Matthew Jukes has chosen the 2011 Chateau de Sours Rose as his 'Wine of the Week', calling it "the most thrilling rose of the year". It appears that Matthew Jukes is a bit of a fan of the Chateau de Sours Rose, last May he also selected the 2010 vintage as his Wine of the Week, describing it as 'the most reliable and exciting rose in the country".

Chateau de Sours Grand vin de Bordeaux Rose 2011

"Martin Krajewski continues to lavish a lot of love and money on this stunning property in Saint-Quentin-de-Baron and, with a state-of-the-art winery now up and running, the wines have all benefitted from yet another nudge up the quality scale. It’s hard to believe that there is any room for improvement here, but to be the best you have to tinker and finesse every year, and they do. In 2011, a ‘difficult’ vintage, they have selected only the finest parcels of grapes to go into this celestial rosé. This 70% merlot/30% cabernet franc blend is the most distinguished and elegant to date. Dare I say it, there is more than a touch of Provençal elegance in this Bordeaux rosé and I am not just referring to the shockingly arresting pale pink hue. The beautiful fruit and persistence on the palate are both exceptional, too."
