Italy - Ancona
The unique style of Umani Ronchi wines comes from the province of Ancona, framed by hills that meet the waters of the Adriatic Sea, on the eastern coast of Italy. This region, with clayey soils of medium density for red wines, loose and calcareous for white wines, combined with a very mild and generous microclimate is well suited for viticulture.
Umani Ronchi has found fame as the leading exponent of the two major wines of the Marche region where it is based – the noble Verdicchio and Montelpulciano grape from Rosso Conero.
One of the flagships of the winery, Casal di Serra, is a single vineyard Verdicchio Classico from a vineyard of the same name and is consistently rated as one of the best buys by Wine Spectator magazine.
At the entry level Umani Ronchi’s everyday red wine, Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, has been awarded 4½ stars in Cuisine magazine and is now sealed with a screw cap.
