France - BurgundyEugene Chevalier founded his sparkling wine house, Maison Chevalier in 1920. While there were already Burgundian firms producing sparkling wines in the towns of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Rully, Eugene established his original premises in Charnay near Macon.
Chevalier went on to become one of the leading producers of sparkling wines in Burgundy. Chevalier wines were known for their extended aging in vats of the base wine which added depth, complexity and consistency to the finished wines.
The sparkling wines of Chevalier include Methode Traditionelle wines, Cremant de Bourgogne wines as well as everyday sparkling wines.
In 1994 Chevalier was purchased by Boisset, Burgundy’s largest producer of sparkling wines. Boisset’s position in the market, technical innovation and strong grower relationships brings a technical level of expertise which means the Chevalier wines will continue to evolve.
